Four dose ranges

Amounts are usually described in four ranges, by the weight of dried mushroom. They are rough guides, not hard lines. The same amount can feel different from one person to the next, and from one strain to the next.

  • Microdose: up to 0.5 g.
  • Medium dose: 0.5 to 1.5 g.
  • High dose: 1.5 to 3 g.
  • Heroic dose: 3 g and up.

Microdose · up to 0.5 g

All three of our capsules sit in this range: 90, 150 and 300 mg. Most people begin here, and many stay here longer than they expect. That is the point of it.

Micro · 90 mg

Sub-perceptual. Little or nothing you would notice. Made for a normal workday.

Where we suggest almost everyone begins. A pouch holds 30 capsules.

Mini · 150 mg

Light and noticeable. A workday if you know yourself; better for a walk, a workout, time outside.

A deliberate step up from Micro, for people who have spent some time there. A pouch holds 30 capsules.

Mega · 300 mg

Noticeable. Still a microdose, but you will feel it. Not for a workday: for a day with nothing on the schedule, such as reflection, time outdoors, or an evening in place of a drink.

Our strongest capsule, for people who already know how they respond to Mini. A pouch holds 20 capsules.

Medium dose · 0.5 to 1.5 g

Clearly noticeable. Changes in mood, perception and your sense of time are common, and they last several hours.

Not for a workday or a busy place. Keep the whole day clear, stay somewhere familiar, and have someone you trust nearby the first time.

One bag of our tea holds 1 g, so a whole bag is a medium dose, not a microdose.

High dose · 1.5 to 3 g

Strong effects that can last most of a day, with large changes in perception and emotion. Difficult moments are more likely.

This is not a range we suggest. Researchers who study larger amounts count preparation, a safe physical setting and trusted support as basic safeguards1. If you choose it, come to it only with experience at lower amounts, in a safe and familiar place, with a sober person you trust there the whole time.

Heroic dose · 3 g and up

Very strong, long and hard to predict. We do not suggest it, and none of our capsules is made for it.

Everything said about a high dose applies here, with more at stake. Read “Safety, plainly” before you take any amount above a microdose.

How to choose

Choose the capsule for the day you are actually going to have, not the one you hope for.

  • First time, or first time in a while: Micro.
  • Not sure yet: the Variety Pack. It holds one pouch of each strength: 30 × 90 mg, 30 × 150 mg and 20 × 300 mg.
  • Ready for more after several dose days at Micro: Mini, on a day with room in it.
  • Mega only once you know how you respond to Mini, and only on a day with nothing on the schedule.
  • Move up one strength at a time. Never go straight from Micro to Mega.

Why we print the milligrams

Most of what makes a dose day go well is decided before anything is taken: how much, in what setting, with what intention.

We can only control the first one, so we make it exact. Every pouch carries its amount per capsule and its count.

The names Micro, Mini and Mega are there so you can hold two pouches side by side and know which is which. Guessing is not part of it.

Other formats

Our chocolates hold 250 mg a piece and our tincture 150 mg a serving: both microdose amounts. A tea bag holds 1 g, a medium dose. Dried mushrooms are sold by weight, so weigh before you take any.

Approach your first time with any new format as a first time. Start low, and keep everything else the same.
